Cake Orders

 

•To ensure the date you require is available we recommend that you book as early as possible so

that you are not disappointed.

 

•Unless other arrangements are made, a non-returnable deposit of one third is required. The

balance to be paid one month prior to the date the cake is required. For orders placed with less

than one month to the required date, unless other arrangements are agreed, the full amount must

be paid

 

•Payment must be in cash, by cheque or bank transfer

 

•Orders are only considered confirmed orders on receipt of payment (i.e. cheques must have cleared).

 

•You will be notified when your payment has been received and the requisite date will be booked.

Please note that if you have sent payment but have not heard from us it may be that your order has

gone astray (e.g. in the post). If you have not had a response please contact us to confirm your

order.

 

•Each cake is individually made so no two cakes are exactly the same and some slight variations

may occur.

 

•Unless otherwise stated portion sizes are 2” x ½ “ or 1” x 1”

 

•Although we can provide cakes without allergens such as nuts, our Cakes are made at premises

that use nuts/nut products and other items that may cause allergies. Therefore we cannot

guarantee that there will not be traces of these items.

 

•All cake boards are cleaned with alcohol and dried before placement of the cake.

 

•Cakes with sugar crafted ‘people’ as ornaments are representations of a person or item and will not

be lifelike replicas

 

•Unless otherwise stated sugar crafted ornaments although made from sugar should not be

consumed as they may contain non edible items.

 

•Tiered cakes will contain supporting dowels that need to be removed before consumption.

 

•The client is responsible for informing the person serving the cake of any dowelling or inedible parts

All colours are edible food colourings unless otherwise specified (e.g. on an ornament that is not edible).

 

•We recommend that sponge cakes are consumed 3 days from delivery/pick up, fruit cakes within

one month if properly stored (though fruit ones should last many months longer in reality).

For cakes being picked up by clients – the box should be held by supporting the bottom without

fingers or thumbs pressing into the sides of the box

 

•Transportation: Cakes are best carried in the luggage area, which is usually the flattest/most level

part of a vehicle. A blanket or similar item helps prevent sliding. Ensure no other items can hit the

box to prevent damage.

 

•Responsibility for the physical condition of the cake once it has left our premises is entirely the

client’s.

 

•Keep cakes in a cool dark area away from any source of heat or sunlight. Never refrigerate a cake

unless specifically advised to do so.

 

Delivery

 

•Where delivery has been arranged the client needs to ensure that someone will be available to

accept the cake at the agreed time. If setting up of the cake is required, the table the cake will be

displayed on must be ready at the agreed time.

 

Stand hire

 

•Cake Stand and Knife hire is available. Prices for hire vary depending on the stand required

In addition to the hire charge a refundable deposit is retained until the safe return of the item within

4 days of the hire date unless otherwise agreed.

 

•Stands not returned in the same condition will not have the deposit refunded. Items that are

damaged will be charged for replacement costs. Unauthorised late returns will be charged.

 

Buffets

•We reserve the right to charge a premium should payment not be received at the time agreed

•Should an item be unavailable or not up to the standards we expect for our customers we reserve

the right to substitute a similar item to ensure quality is maintained.

 

•Buffets are made at premises that use nuts/nut products and other possible allergens. therefore we

cannot guarantee that there will not be traces of such allergens in our products.

 

•The area to set up the buffet must be ready and available at the time agreed.

 

•We will always endeavour to arrive at the agreed time. However problems may arise that are

beyond our control. When possible we will inform you of any delay.

 

•The buffet trays etc should be available for removal at the agreed time

 

•Any breakages of hired items will be charged at the rate the item costs

 

Complaints


Although complaints are very, very rare they will not be ignored. Any complaint will be listened to
appropriately. The terms and conditions above are to help clarify orders and to address any potential
misunderstandings or problems. Although there has never actually been a complaint regarding how
a cake has been finished (e.g. how a name has been spelt) it seems sensible to mention this. Any
error should be brought to our attention immediately before accepting the cake where I will check all
correspondence and attempt to rectify it immediately. If the concern is regarding how the cake has
preserved then this needs to be brought to my attention by the date of expiry (3 days for sponges and 1
month for fruit cakes). I will inspect the cake and take whatever course of action is necessary. If there is
any problem with any aspect of our Cakes, Buffets or Service please take a few moments to discuss it
with us so that we can rectify it. We want our customers to be happy with all aspects of Yummy Cakes
and More. Should compensation be sought the value will never exceed the purchase price of the item.
